Holy crap. I'll start by saying I absolutely hate Italian food; to the point that I avoid it like the plague. Pasta makes me want to vomit most days and tomato sauce gives me anxiety. Come to find out, it's because I've only been eating crappy Italian food. THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. I got the gnocchi in tomato sauce and I almost died of happiness while I was eating it. I honestly can't say anything bad about the food. My mom who loves Italian food couldn't stop talking about how she's never had anything that compared to her choice, (which was a red and white sauce mix but i don't remember exactly what she got (sorry!)). And this coming from someone who eats Italian every time we go out to eat somewhere. So thank you!
We also came in without a reservation on New Years Eve and they fit us in, granted there we only two of us, but huge gratitude for that..my mom was only visiting the area and I'm glad she got to experience this place!
The atmosphere reminds me of what you would think of when you think family meal. Big tables, families talking and having a great time, and close and intimate due to the smaller building. I truly had such an amazing experience! -

I had their (homemade) Black Squid Ink Fettuccini (a dinner special) and it was more disappointing than it was tasteful. The squid ink fettuccine didn't have that salty seafood flavor I was looking for, in fact it didn't have any sort of flavor at all - not like an actual squid ink sauce would give you which is what I was hoping for. Also, the shrimp and scallops were overcooked which resulted in them being very dry. Overall it wasn't very good and not very special in my opinion.
If the back squid ink fettuccine was actually homemade and if they really did use real squid ink it would best be served as a creamy sauce in a seafood risotto dish. Just my recommendation. -

4 star review. Would have gotten 4.5 stars but the waiter im assuming forgot we were there to celebrate a birthday. We were expecting a candle on our dessert like we saw happen at other tables, but it didnt happen.
Had moms birthday dinner at #illucanoristoranteitaliano last night in #GigHarbor. It was so deeeeelicious. Probably the #bestitalianfood Ive had on the west coast. A #familyoffoodies plus a 3 year old were SO satisfied. The place wasnt what i consider fine dining, but the vibe was awesome and the owner made it to every table. Absolutely recommend making reservations to make your life easier.
We had the #VongoleSaltate, #BruschettaDiFunghi, #InsalataSpinici, #Manicotti, #VealParmigiano, #BucatiniAllAmatriciana, PizzaClasica, & the #LinguiniPescatore (it was the least liked, so mild mom said there was no taste but it was fresh seafood) ......yes we went all out. FOR DESSERT...the #LimoneRipieno, and the #CannoloSiciano #BestCannoliInThePNW reminds me of my childhood on LongIsland. -

This was our first time at Il Lucano, and the owners were incredibly nice, so I hate giving anything but a stellar review. Unfortunately, no one was super pleased with their meal. We had the Gnocchi, Spaghetti with meatballs, and a kids portion spaghetti with butter. Of course, the spaghetti with butter was fine. The noodles were tasty, and there isn't much more to it. My gnocchi was alright. Not great, not bad, just okay. My partner, unfortunately did not care for the meatballs in his spaghetti and meatballs. He's a huge meatball fanatic, so for him to say he thought about not even eating them, was a first. He did eat part of his meal and brought the rest home, but decided not to finish it. For the price, I feel like the entrees should come with a small salad or something. It did come with bread, which was nice.

What a cute homey spot out in Gig Harbor. We were in the neighborhood for an escape room and decided to stick around for dinner. I made reservations a few days prior the old school way - by calling them! That's right....no Resy, no OpenTable....no Yelp reservations. Just connecting mano a mano over Alexander Bell's mode of communication. The guy (I think the owner) in his heavy boisterous Italian accent, took my reservation after having me spell my name a couple of times...Oh, ALEECHAY, he says (Italians in Italy actually call me that, so I know this place is authentic!).
We arrived about 30 minutes early, and the place was loud and hopping. It was a Saturday night. He wasn't ready to take us...no space yet. So, he told us he'd call when he was ready for us. We walked across the street and hung out at the bar in the Japanese spot (Mizuki I think) while waiting.
Il Lucano does not disappoint. Their food was absolutely tasty and the service is so friendly, genuine, and joyful. Their portions are humungous! My buddy ordered a calzone and it looked like a large pizza folded in half. I shared a seafood pasta and eggplant parmesan with my friend. Both were spot on (though I slightly favored the eggplant parm because it was perfectly breaded and crispy).
Definitely make time to go here if you're in the area.
